Born and raised in Denver, Danny Rosenthall comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and business owners in the Mile High City. With close to 100 years of business ownership through the Rosenthall family, Danny decided to put his own mark on the lineage with a Miracle Method franchise.

“My father owned a baby furniture store that he owned for 38 years, my grandfather had a pharmacy that he had for 20-30 years and my great grandfather owned an electrical company,” said Rosenthall. “I’m a fourth generation business owner in Denver and happy to be able to keep this tradition alive.”

Prior to business ownership, the now 35 year old Rosenthall was managing money for 10 years working for a commonwealth management firm in Denver that manages half a billion dollars in assets. As a certified financial planner (CFP), one of the most difficult certifications to obtain in the financial industry with a pass rate of approximately 50 percent, Rosenthall knows what it takes to run a business.

In just two years of business ownership with Miracle Method, Rosenthall has been able to double the business.

Why did you choose to become a franchisee with Miracle Method? How did you learn about the brand?

With my background I knew how to evaluate companies and I was looking for opportunities to purchase an existing business. Through my research I found Miracle Method and I loved the business model. It is recession resistant in nature and the previous owner was successful through absentee ownership.

At the end of the day everyone is selling a widget, whether it’s a service or product. With my experience, I wanted a business that fundamentally was in good shape and something I could manage from the top down. We work hard to hire top tier talent so every facet of the business runs smoothly while I manage the business and process.

Where did you get most of your advice/do most of your research?

I’ve had a lot of mentors along the way including my past employer who I still have a good relationship with today. They taught me how to run a business successfully and instilled in me the importance of your employees buying into and believing in your system. A good way to establish this culture is to treat your employees like family.

Another piece of advice that has stuck with me is that 90-percent of success is just stepping on the field. Most people are too scared to even try which hurts them in the long run. I was happy to step on the field of business ownership and play ball.

What were the most unexpected challenges of opening your franchise?

As you grow, it can be challenging to learn how to deal with different stages of business. I bought into an established business because the perceived risk was less than a new business. Now that we are growing rapidly I need to run things differently so we can capitalize the right way on this momentum. If we stay on track we should end the year in the top 15 franchises in the system.

“When I first started researching the company, I asked the first few franchisees in the system about the adhesion process, and there was no question in their minds that Miracle Method’s was the best product on the market,” said Pistor. “A brand with this superior product was close to disappearing due to poor leadership. I was already an expert on the product and I knew that the brand needed a jump start and it has come a long way in the last 25 years, all while maintaining some of our original franchisees, which speaks volumes to the longevity of our product and business model.”

With just a few dozen franchises in business to start, Pistor’s vision and direction has built the network to more than 135 territories that generate more than $50 million in annual sales.

“If you take other similar concepts in our space and add them up in size, we are still the biggest, but I believe that we still have a lot of growth to accomplish,” Pistor said. “It’s amazing how much demand there is, and yet through our research, we know that 80 percent of the general population isn’t even aware of all the benefits of refinishing.”

The challenge has been that many homeowners are unaware that there is a cost-effective, professional solution that will transform the look of their kitchen or bathroom. Surface refinishing has quickly become a preferred option when updating kitchen countertops, bathtubs and tile. Damaged or dated kitchens and baths can be repaired and given a new look in just two days for about 75 percent less than the cost of replacement.

Miracle Method’s customers include not only millions of homeowners, but also hotels, hospitals, property managers, colleges and universities, making the business very attractive to potential franchise owners. Its robust business plan gives franchisees access to corporate support and ongoing technical and administrative training opportunities. The brand is looking to attract owner-managers who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, but can also scale the mobile business and focus more on development while trained technicians handle the resurfacing projects. Potential owners only need about $60-$80,000 to get started, in addition to the $40,000 franchise fee. Franchisees start with two technicians and two vehicles, and the potential to grow to a multi-million dollar business.
