Surface refinishing by Miracle Method is not only a great solution for kitchen and bathrooms in residential properties – it’s also a great option for commercial properties. We’ve done jobs in a variety of such settings, and we thought we would share about how refinishing is used in college residence halls, especially during summer breaks when facility managers scramble to complete much needed dorm renovations and upgrades.
The most common problems in the college setting are leaking shower pans. Since college showers get tons of use, leaking can quickly become an issue. That was the case at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). In addition to the leaks, black grout was becoming a problem. USM needed a solution that would stop the leaks and damage, as well as reduce cleaning time and update the look. In addition to solving the leaking problem, the cost effectiveness of Miracle Method’s process allowed the university to also have the vanities, floors, and partitions in the restrooms refinished.
Miracle Method was able to solve all of the problems the showers and restrooms presented. The showers were thoroughly cleaned to kill mold and remove soap scum, body oils, and dirt. We repaired the damaged wall grout and then applied a high-tech epoxy to the shower pans, which seeped through the grout, displaced existing moisture, and sealed the shower pans. After curing for 24 hours, we applied our Natural Accents™ stone-look finish to the showers.
The USM dormitory showers look like new and no longer leak, which saved USM thousands of dollars of removal and replacement. Since this original project, Miracle Method has been called upon several times to solve other surface problems in the USM residence halls. Below, we’ve included a few photos of the transformation Miracle Method was able to create without costly removal and replacement and in just a few days, not weeks!
USM is not the only college to call on Miracle Method to solve surface issues. Penn State, LSU, Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Texas are a few others that have benefitted from our refinishing services.
