Ceramic Tile Refinishing is Better Than Repainting or Replacing Tile

May 16, 2011 By miraclemethod

Refinishing ceramic tile is less expensive, more green, and adds more vitality to your existing tile!

Refinishing ceramic tile is less expensive than replacement, more green, and adds more vitality to your existing tile!

Miracle Method refinishes ceramic tile in much the same way that we refinish ceramic bathtubs and kitchen countertops.  Painting ceramic tile is completely different from refinishing ceramic tile.  With refinishing, the new finish is actually fused or bonded to the old surface.  Painting ceramic tiles is a cheap solution involvingspray cans of enamel or roll-on epoxies, but the effort is seldom worthwhile.  These epoxies and enamels tend to look somewhat opaque or murky and are textured unlike smooth tile.

Replacing tiles and reinstalling new tiles is a costly, wasteful process that involves tearing out the old time and putting new tile right back in, often taking days and resulting in excess waste in landfills.

Having a professional refinish your ceramic tiles is the best possible solution. Refinishing is less expensive than tile replacement and can save a customer an average of 50%. At Miracle Method, we implement a multistep process to clean and repair your tiles before we even begin refinishing them.  And refinished tilelook much better than painted tile and will last 15 to 20 years or more! Our Natural Accents finishes provide customers with the look of stone. The finish is heat resistant and scratch resistant. Refinishing also gives the added benefit of completely sealing the grout, making it much easier to clean and dramatically reduces staining and growth of mildew!

Miracle Method provides free estimates for ceramic tile refinishing so please give us a call today at 855-212-7337.

Why Bathtub Refinishing is Best Left to the Professionals

May 6, 2011 By miraclemethod

Bathtub refinishing requires use of industrial strength chemical and solvents.

Refinishing bathtubs are, in much the same way as we discuss refinishing countertops in a previous post, jobs best left to professionals.

With that in mind, DIY refinishing for a bathtub is almost always a poor choice.  Outside the soul merit that it might be cheaper than a professionally done refinishing, there are many detriments.  In order to refinish a bathtub, you must first fully clean and remove any build-up of mineral deposits, soap scum, body oils, etc., and utilize powerful industrial-strength chemicals that require, at the very least, rubber gloves, goggles, and a breathing respirator,  to ready the tub before any refinishing.

Only after the tub is cleaned and any damage repaired, can you begin refinishing by bonding and priming the entirety of the tub and then applying the topcoat.  If any one of these steps is lax or missing, the refinishing job might as well be scrapped.  Without a proven bonding agent to fuse the new finish onto the old surface, you are really just doing a temporary “paint” job.  Good refinishing requires an effective bonding agent and hi tech acrylic resins to provide the best results.

If you’re thinking of taking on a do it yourself project, make the right choice and find a Miracle Method location near you. You can also call our toll free number, 855-212-7337, to reach the nearest Miracle Method professional.

Preventing and Treating Mold and Mildew

May 1, 2011 By miraclemethod

Squeegee down the walls, tub, and curtain (if possible) to prevent moisture from creating mold or mildew.

Here at Miracle Method, we firmly believe that surface refinishing is the best choice for bathtubs, ceramic tile, and kitchen countertops that need surface repair, making them look like new.  That said, we also firmly believe in routine maintenance and care for bathtubs.  Today, we’re going to be discussing preventing and removing mold and mildew.

Mold and mildew go beyond simply making a room unattractive. It can disperse microscopic spores into the homes air.  This is harmful to your health, and can cause anything from a mild allergic reaction to much more serious ailments.

Mold and mildew grow wherever there are high amounts of moisture and humidity.  For bathtubs, sinks, and kitchen countertops, one of the simplest preventative measures comes from using a squeegee to direct any remaining water or other liquids down the nearest drain.  With showers and bathtubs, post usage, squeegee down the glass doors or curtains as best you can.  All this help prevent the accumulation of moisture that can spawn mold or mildew.

You can help prevent mold and mildew by using typical household cleaning supplies such as bleach, dish soap, detergent and hot water to scrub out the respective areas.

For shower curtains (fabric or plastic), the simplest solution is putting them in a washing machine with hot water, heavy detergent, and a little color-safe bleach (3/4th of a cup).  After it’s washed, hang it up and let it air dry in a dry area.

For everything else, start with a couple spoonfuls of dish soap mixed with a bucket of hot water, and a non-scratch brush or scouring pad.  We recommend scrubbing the problem areas, as well as the surrounding areas.

Bathtub Repair – What Can Be Repaired & How Are Repairs Made?

April 28, 2011 By miraclemethod

The award winning refinishing that we at Miracle Method pride ourselves on providing to our customers can be applied to bathtubs and other units made from a variety of materials.  Fiberglass, acrylic, and cultured marble are the primary materials that we can repair, but we also repair porcelain tubs and sinks, tile grout, hot tubs and Jacuzzis.

Fixtures can accidentally be damaged.  This frequently occurs when an item is shipped or installed, or in some cases when a heavy or sharp object is dropped onto the fixture.  While everything else may be in working order and in satisfactory condition, this limited damage needs to be repaired to prevent further damage as a result (cracking or chipping are good examples of this). Sometimes a crack can develop into a leak. The good news is that fixture repair is generally speedy and inexpensive.

A great deal of time and effort goes into Miracle Method’s bathtub repair.  Chips and cracks must first be filed and sealed using a waterproof polyester resin.  Once these areas have completely dried they are thoroughly sanded and filled.  Then, using an artist’s air brush, an acrylic enamel coating is applied to the area, and the area is carefully blended into the surrounding surface, making it look just like new!

Chip and bathtub repair is something that takes years of practice.  DIY repair projects often only cover up damaged areas and don’t extend the life of the unit in the same way that refinishing does.  Chip and bathtub repair requires a discerning eye and years of professional experience.

The good news is that bathtub repair is MUCH less expensive than bathtub replacement (less expensive by thousands of dollars!) and adds anywhere from 15-20 years, or more to the tub.

If you’re considering having your bathtub refinished or repaired, then find a Miracle Method location near you or call our toll free number, 855-212-7337, to reach the nearest Miracle Method professional.
